The 45th BULLOCK SMITHY - 'Edale'
Not a lot to report on from Edale for the 'Unofficial' 2020 event. Word had gone round that several independent 'bubbles' were taking part so we set up out of habit at a time to provide the usual refreshments at the Edale checkpoint for Steve and Jerzy George! (We all know George can get ugly if he doesn't get his rice pudding and fruit salad!) If any other regulars came past while we were there it would be a bonus. As we drove into the car park a fit young couple went running past towards Hollins Cross and obliviously missed out on the traditional delights. Tough luck! Helen Gray plus friend were next to pass through and were full of high spirits. Sadly they were on a tight schedule and didn't partake either. They did however gracefully pose for a photo.
Finally Steve turned up having taken the high route into Edale village centre but without George who had unfortunately retired earlier because of a training injury. Steve showed the same grace as the girls when posing for his photo? He had also made alternative arrangements for refreshment and the rice pudding and fruit salad were again rejected. He did however eat the banana belonging to a certain checkpoint staff member who had gone off towards Edale Cross via the Barber Booth low route to look for him!
Never mind - the excess rice pudding and fruit salad will keep until next year! Any more rejections and we'll change to lettuce and cucumber crackers?
